Beef & Cabbage Recipe

Some home-cooked meals are so nourishing, heartwarming, and filling that even the thought of them inspires happy sighs of contentment. Ground Beef and Cabbage is one such dish - a mixture of juicy ground beef and sweet cabbage simmered to perfect tenderness. Liquid aminos and mushrooms only deepen the savory flavors of the two titular stars of this dish and ensure that each bite has that wholesome heartiness that can only come from home cooking. You only need 30 minutes to make up Ground Beef and Cabbage, so you can stop thinking about it and start eating it in a flash!

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons avocado oil or ghee

  • 1 yellow onion, finely chopped

  • 1 pound ground beef

  • 5 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano

  • 8 ounces mushrooms, chopped

  • 1 small red bell pepper, chopped

  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt, to taste

  • 2 tablespoons liquid aminos or soy sauce

  • 1 medium-sized head green cabbage, thinly sliced

  • 2 tablespoons parsley, optional, for garnish

Make RecipePowered by Directions Step 1 -Heat the avocado oil in a large, thick-bottomed pot. Step 2 -Add the onion and sauté, stirring occasionally, until the onion softens, about 5-8 minutes. Step 3 -Push the onions to the side and add the ground beef to the center of the pot. Step 4 -Allow the beef to brown, about 3-4 minutes. Step 5 -Break the beef up with a spatula. Step 6 -Stir in the garlic, the oregano, the mushrooms, the red bell pepper, the sea salt, and the liquid aminos until well-combined. Step 7 -Add the cabbage to the pot. Step 8 -Cover the pot and cook until the cabbage has softened, about 5-10 minutes. Make sure to stir it every few minutes. Step 9 -Remove the lid and cook until most of the liquid has evaporated and the cabbage has reached your desired level of doneness, about 8-10 minutes. Step 10 -Garnish with parsley and serve!
